From the vault....a repost from January 2011.
We speak often of doing the exercises in our workouts with great form and technique. You probably even get tired of us saying this and making corrections from time to time. But this should be your ultimate goal. This may entail slowing down. It may mean you have to "lighten the load". You may even have to start from scratch and let a coach watch you and go from there. The best way NOT to get better at the movements, and NOT to ultimately get better WOD results is to consistently continue to do it wrong. Constantly trying to improve, even when you think you've got it down, not only can lull you into a false sense of having good form, but can lead to injury. During warm-up, when most of you are greeting, catching up, and getting loose as you go through what has been given to you to "get the blood pumping", don't forget to be tight on your technique. Focus on what you're supposed to be doing, and on the points of performance of each exercise. If you don't know, ask. If you know your form is not up to par, why would you keep doing it the same way? Pick something to improve during this time: go a little deeper than you normally do on your squat, make sure your knees track out over those toes on those same squats, touch that chest to the floor EVERY time you lower your body on those push ups. You get the idea. A karate instructor I had once explained that it never got easier, because the better you got, the more you could see that you needed to improve. It's like this with these movements. We all have limitations with something, but continuing to stand still is moving backwards.
