Benefits of Couples Working Out Together
Need Motivation? Workout with Your Significant Other!
My husband and I joined Triangle CrossFit almost 8 years ago, at the same time. For the next four years, we religiously went to the 6:00 a.m. class three to four times a week. Rarely did we hit snooze or decide to skip for the day. Why? Because we had each other for motivation. If one of us wanted to skip doing 100 wall balls for time (ME!), the other was there to say “No, we are already up; we need to go!” Now, we don’t attend the same class very often, but we usually always go on the same days. When he goes at 6:00 a.m., it’s motivation to me to go later in the day. When I know he got 5 rounds, it’s motivation to me during the workout to at least try to match him!
I’m sure we’re not the only ones who use our spouse for motivation. TCF is full of couples. We’ve even had a few athletes meet their soulmate here!
Interestingly enough, there is research that supports the thought that couples who “sweat together stay together.”
