Stay Healthy, Drink Water!

Why is water so important to our bodies?

It is recommended to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day, which is equal to 2 liters or half a gallon. 

.

Water is essential to our kidneys and other bodily functions. When you drink water it helps lubricate your joints and increase the joints shock absorption ability. Water also helps produce the saliva and mucus within your mouth which helps us digest our food.

Water also helps to deliver oxygen all throughout our bodies. Water helps boost healthy skin so without water the skin becomes more vulnerable to skin disorders.

While participating in physical activity water helps in many ways. It helps keep our bodies hydrated and it helps to cool our bodies off if we get too hot by creating sweat while we are moving and staying active.

Having a lot of water in your body can help reduce physical strain if heat stress occurs during exercise. 

.

The digestive system also depends on water. Dehydration can lead to digestive problems, constipation, and an overly acidic stomach. All of these increase the risk of heartburn and stomach ulcers.

Water has many benefits other than just being healthy and helping to keep us hydrated. It can help with many other bodily functions that are important to survive.
