Why You Should Do The Intramural Open?

It's the most exciting time of year for CrossFit Athletes of all levels! The CrossFit Open!

For those unfamiliar with the CrossFit Open, it is the largest fitness competition on Earth. This is a time when all CrossFitters push themselves harder and faster than they ever have before. It starts on October 10th and lasts for 5 weeks. Here are some commonly asked questions:

What is the CrossFit Open?

  • The Open is a 5 week event. A workout will be released every Thursday night at 8:00pm during that 5 week period. Athletes will have all day Friday to complete the workout. If you happen to miss the Open workout on Friday, then you can make it up on Saturdays at 9:30 am.

  • During the workouts, you will have a friend to be your personal motivator and they will help you through out the workout. Their goal is to keep you on track to do the best that you can in the workout! Once you have completed the workout, you get the opportunity to cheer on the rest of the TCF Family and help them push as hard as they can!

Who can participate?

  • Everyone! The Open is for all CrossFitters regardless of skill level, age, or ability. As long as you belong to a CrossFit gym, you can participate in the Open.

  • We will be hosting an Rx, Scaled, Masters Rx, and Masters Scaled divisions to ensure all skill levels are capable of doing their best!

Why should you participate?

  • Every Friday during the Open, whether you are signed up or not, you will be participating in the workouts. So why not join the fun?

  • Because it is fun! The Open is a huge CrossFit community event. It is the one time of year that all athletes get together and cheer each other on. It's a great opportunity to meet people from class times you may not have the ability to attend and to further connect with the TCF Family!

  • The Open also gives you a purpose to train for. Runners will run and train for a 5k race to help keep them motivated. This is a CrossFitter's 5k run! The workouts are measurable, observable, and repeatable so that you can test your improvement! It will help you get out of your comfort zone and keep you on track through out the 5 weeks!

  • The Open is a time to try things that you never thought were possible. This is the time to try and get your first pull-up or double under in a workout! Also, it is fun to put yourself up against some of the fittest people in the world for that extra inspiration and push!

  • 10/25 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm 20.3 Friday Night Lights

  • 11/1 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm 20.4 Friday Night Lights

  • 11/8 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm 20.5 Friday Night Lights

  • 11/15 8:00 pm Post Open Potluck
